Test Modelling - Set
Bellow are the photos we took of our process of the set creation. Blood sweat and tears went into these!
The first 4 images are examples of testing materials- mod rock dressed with paint- we actually re-used this hook shape in a set in the final film.
The following image is a photoshopped image by Lizzie which played with scale and light- I love how big it looks in the picture where as in real life it was tiny!
Our next 7 shots shows how we created the miniature, first cutting it out of wood and sticking foam board on to it to create a variation in depth and used a paper mache technique of scrunched-up newspaper and PVA to make the bricks. To avoid the set looking too dark we used an undertone of blue paint and dry brushed a layer of grey on top followed by a layer of white. We also have me making a large stained glass window from sweet wrappers- which worked surprisingly well and Dan hand-crafting one of our many gravestones.
The last two pictures are our sets in filming, the scale-sized one had the gargoyle crawling down the wall, to make animation possible we layed the set down and shot from above.
The last photo is me putting some last minute dressing on the miniature set preparing it for the pan shot.
